Chocolate covered strawberries

Dipped fruit is one of the most easies, delicious and satisfying deserts. The recipe will show you how to make strawberries dipped in chocolate. You can use any fruit you like. I suggest oranges, pineapples, apples, pears and grapes.

Chocolate dipped strawberries are great as desert or snack for weddings, tea parties, children parties and all kinds of events. They go well with champagne, too.

Method

Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. The strawberries need to be a bit cool, not cold. If they are not, put them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. If they are cold allow them to stay at the room temperature for 15-30 minute.

Melt the chocolate using one of the 3 methods: double boiler, microwave or chocolate fondue set. Put a spoon of oil in the container before adding the chocolate. Stir the chocolate until completely melted.

Line a baking sheet or cookie pan with waxed paper.
Insert the tip of a toothpick in the strawberry where the stem is. Grasp the stem, the green leaves and the toothpick and dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate. Swirl in to cover as much strawberry as you want. Give a little shake to remove excess chocolate.

Place the strawberry on the waxed paper. Remove the toothpick slowly and reuse it for the rest of the strawberries. Place the strawberries in the fridge for 30 minutes. Serve them on a plate.

They are better eaten within 24 hours.

Did you know that dark chocolate is healthy for you?

This is the best news ever. It’s dark chocolate, not milk and not white. Studies have shown that dark chocolate reduces blood pressure, lowers cholesterol and is an aphrodisiac.

Ingredients

  • 15 fresh large strawberries with stems left intact
