Easy Berry Smoothie

Brisbane-based Consulting Dietitian, Julette Kentish's quick and easy breakfast recipe

Method

Tip – freeze seasonal fruit or herbs in portions or chunks – then add to blended ingredients. Tinned fruit in natural juice works well for these recipes– as a stand-by. Try varying the fruit, herb and spice mixes - for example:
Apple, pear & cinnamon
Pear, prune (minus seeds) & nutmeg
Mango, crushed pineapple & mint with coconut flavoured low fat yoghurt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of yoghurt (low fat – natural)
  • ½ cup of low fat milk
  • ¾ cup Frozen Mixed Berries
  • ½ Banana
  • 2- teaspoons flaxseeds or 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • Small knob ginger – grated or ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 3 mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of honey or ¼ teaspoon Stevia liquid
  • Serves 2 people – or One -for a large breakfast in a cup!
