sunday night pumpkin soup
An English backpacker taught me the basics of this, the day before she stole $100 from me. But tonight i've added some extra bits and it's great
Method
lightly fry onion, meanwhile peel and dice pumpkin and potatoes, put in pot and add bay leaves and salt, turn on kettle and by the time it boils your veges should be sweating - if not wait until they are covered with beads of sweat, it's worth it. splash a small bit of cognac in and wait until it doesnt smell like your parents friends bar anymore.
Pour in boiling water and simmer for about 10 mins, then add the chopped green vege. Cook a little longer then serve with buttered toast and a blob of sour cream.

Ingredients
- 1 to 2 cups pumpkin
- 3 dutch cream potatos
- 1 onion chopped
- kettle full of boiling water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 bunch komatsuna (Japanese green leafy vege which i grew)
- teaspoon salt
- pepper
- dash of cognac
- oil
