Velykos Pyragas

Lithuanian Easter bread or velykos pyragas is a sweet yeast-raised dough with white raisins.
Method
Place the milk in a large bowl . Add yeast, 1/4 cup sugar and 3 cups flour. Mix well. Cover and let rise until light and bubbly.
Add the egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, raisins and butter to yeast mixture, mixing well.
Add remaining 1/2 cup flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.
Turn out into a greased bowl. Cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise until doubled (2 hours).
Punch down dough. Shape into 1 loaf and place in a loaf pan.
Cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise until doubled (2 hours).
Pre- heat the oven to 180°C.
Brush with the eggwash and bake 40 minutes or until done. Turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.
