Easy Dahl Version 2

Easy Dahl Version 2

I tried to copy Adwok's dahl but got a bit distracted by my lack of fancy ingredients. I tried my best and it was delicious. I cooked my curry leaves at the beginning because I love the smell.

I also served it with millet - first time I have ever cooked that.

Method

Chop onion and fry off in two tabelspoons of vegetable oil.
Finely mince ginger and add to onion and fry for about five minutes. Add the curry leaves now.
Add spice powders and cardomon pods and fry until fragrant.
Add lentils and cover with water to about two inches over the top.
Bring to boil and cook on medium boil until lentils collapse.
Should take about 35 minutes.
Keep an eye on liquid level and add more if needed.
Chop the spinach into small pieces, wash and add to the top of the dahl. In a small fry pan, heat another tablespoon of oil.
add your chopped garlic and cook till just brown and stir the lot into the lentils.

Season with salt and pepper.
Serve with millet.
