Dip ‘N’ Mix

Dip ‘N’ Mix

Thank the lord The Dip canteen moved into Goodgod Small Club, where hot dogs are served up with cool tunes.

The Dip is doing American diner ‘dude food’ that is springing up around town faster than you can say chipotle. But owners Bianca Khalil and DJ Andrew Levins are remixing it their own way.

The duo opened the canteen at Goodgod in the city after realising their passion for food and music went hand in hand. Just like a burger and beer.

Bianca planned to start a daytime sandwich shop but instead they chased the big smoke with a late-night, American slash Mexican venture, topped with a few Aussie accents. And since Levins hosted big barbecues at home, it made sense to transport the party to the public.

Settle into one of the Flinstones-style booths and start the evening with punch jugs chockfull of goodies like White Sangria – white ginger wine, Mt Gay rum, brandied apples and strawberries and Wild Combination – sake, Black Raspberry Chambord and apple juice.

Pair it with drinking-friendly food like Lev’s Dawg – a smoked kosher hot dog with chipotle mayo, fresh tomato salsa, grilled yellow peppers and American mustard on a steamed bun. Or try the Southern Smoke – a 12 hour smoked pulled pork sandwich with bbq beans, apple and cabbage slaw and bbq sauce. Fly the Aussie flag with The Damn Skippy – a grilled kangaroo and macadamia burger with beetroot, dill mayo and rocket.

Plus, dip into share plates such as nachos, grilled corn on the cob, Salsa Fries or the Chip N Dip for something different – corn chips with grilled watermelon salsa and jalapeno cream. At least you’re (kinda) getting your fruit fix amongst the fried-ness.

Finish on a sugar-high note with Cookies N Cream – salted caramel ice cream between two chocolate cookies with hot chocolate fudge. Or try the Mexican classic with a sweet twist, Iced Cold Guac; sweet avocado ice cream, strawberry salsa and waffle chips. And an American diner wouldn’t be complete without toffee apple.

This cool new kid on the block mixes the finest things in life- eating, drinking and dancing. All to the beat of Goodgod’s mash of music, from 1950’s rock ‘n’ roll to hip hop karaoke.

Dip it low.
But don’t lose your Dawg on the dancefloor.
