The Big Dinner Party for MS

If you are like me, you host many more dinner parties than you attend. An idea like the Big Dinner Party for charity is such a great way for your mates to give back!
The Big Dinner Party is for individuals to host a dinner party in their home for multiple sclerosis (MS). Instead of paying for a night out at a restaurant, the host’s guests donate an amount which goes directly towards the MS Society to help those living with MS in Queensland.
The inaugural Big Dinner Party for MS will run for the month of March 2012.
All money raised by your dinner guests will help fund vital research into a cure for MS and support those Australians living with this incurable condition.
Gary Allen, a young father and person living with MS will be one of the first to host his own dinner party and says the Big Dinner Party will be a huge help for people like him.
“Hosting your own dinner party for MS in March is a great way to get your friends and family together, show off your cooking skills and raise money for a good cause,” he said.
Gary’s day-to-day life is often difficult. He uses a wheelchair to get around because his legs are too weak for him to walk – just one of the many symptoms caused by his MS.
“Sadly once you get MS it never ‘goes away’. It’s a cruel, sometimes fatal disease that attacks a person’s brain and spinal cord. Each morning I never know if I’m going to wake up feeling good or as if my muscle stiffness and numbness are going to feel tenfold from the day before,” he said.
