Even worse than buying clothes for people is buying something plastic and cheap just because you think you have to. In a time when most countries are faced with the impossibility of paying off their national debt, and the rest of the world created its own financial crisis based on the greed of a few; our obsession with having to buy every single family member a stupid gift could possibly be reassessed.

Not wanting to get too green on your asses but the mere thought of all the wrapping paper and sticky-tape heading to landfill, and the potential health effects of bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical widely used in consumer plastic products, is enough to encourage you to do this:

1. Find out who got your name in the Kris Kingle in your family
2. Call them, chat with them ask how they are doing
3. Tell them you don’t need anything
4. Tell them to spend the money on cheese and wine for New Years Eve
