Happy Hampers for a good cause

Happy Hampers for a good cause

1. Who are you
Jo Pretyman and Ben Korbel. We are The Philanthropic Foodie.

2. What are you doing?
We’re bringing together Sydney’s cult food personalities to create a snapshot of
Sydney cult food, and for a very good cause, raising money for Sydney homeless
charity Youth Off The Streets.

Basically, we’ve created an artisan christmas hamper called “Love Sydney”,
partnering with Bourke Street Bakery, Gelato Messina, Christine Manfield, Campos,
Simon Johnson, Harris Farm Markets, Danks Street Depot and more. 100% of profits
from the hampers go to Youth Off The Streets. Our ultimate goal is to raise $25,000.

3. Why are you doing this?
We wanted to create the ultimate gift that we would love to receive ourselves, and would
imagine the dream team combo of goodies from our favourite Sydney restaurants, cafes, delis, bakeries.
the end result looks very indulgent and so we felt the perfect karmic offset would be to give all
the profits to a worthy cause. There are close to 40,000 teenagers living without a roof and at
times, we indulge and have the good life but take the flip side (the gravity of youth homelessness)
for granted.

4. Where does it happen?
It happens online. All orders are via our website www.foodie.org.au
We deliver Australia wide. Christmas orders close on 15th December.

5. How did you choose your partners?
With our stomachs! They are literally our favourite foodie brands and we felt they encapsulated the
inner city food vibe we were looking for.

6. What do your customers get out of it?
An artisan, epic hamper of all proportions. Here’s a idea....

Imagine Christmas morning, opening your pressies, kicking back on the balcony with your
Bourke Street Bakery gingerbread man in hand (head half eaten), Campos premium blend on the boil,
browsing your beautiful Danks Street Depot coffee table book, before nestling into the rest of your yummy
stash including Christine Manfield, Gelato Messina, Simon Johnson, Bvlgari San Pellegrino, Peroni
Red Import, Harris Farm and loads more. Most importantly you feel very good about your karmically
balanced gift.

7. What does the charity get out of it?
If we sell our target of 400 hampers, they get $25,000.

8. What's for dinner?
Fresh barramundi on the Webber, if the weather holds out!
And a rocket, pear & parmesan side salad.

9. Favorite bar of the moment?
La Bodega in Ibiza, Spain – as we’ve just come back from 5 months there.

10. What do you want for Christmas?
To sell all these hampers and give YOTS a big fat cheque.
and (Jo) maybe a new kitchen island :).
