harvest to home market update 29 November, 2011

The big news is the bananas! This week is the first time we’ve seen then drop back below $5.00 in a long, long time (currently $4.90 Kg). This time of the year also brings out the best in (and therefore, good value) avocados, corn, telegraph cucumbers, broccoli and all the capsicums. Stone fruit are increasing in supply and just getting better by the day. Checkout the full breakup below;
The Good News:
Beans - Green and Handpicked (prices eased and good supply)
Beetroot (large better)
Broccoli (prices cheap)
Cabbage (all good)
Chilli (Red and Birdseye easing)
Red, Green and Yellow Capsicum (all cheap)
Cauliflower (good and cheap)
Celeriac (good)
Celery (good and cheap)
Corn (plenty and cheap)
Eggplant (QLD now and prices cheap)
Fennel
Oranges (CHEAP!)
Blood Oranges (plenty about)
Strawberries (great quality and cheap)
Grapefruit
Kiwi fruit (good quality and cheap)
Leek (good quality and plenty about)
Lettuce (prices down)
Mandarins (good quality and cheap)
Mango (plenty about)
Mushrooms (Button are good and Flat getting better),
Parsnip (plenty about)

Asparagus – slowing down
Avocado – prices expected to rise soon
Chilli (Green scarce)
Cucumber (Telegraph and Lebanese price rising)
Ginger (still high price)
Kumera (limited supply)
Lemons (prices heading up)
Limes (high prices)
Mandarin (quality on the way out)
Melons (prices not great)
Onions (Brown up in price)
Butternut Pumpkin (very pricey)
