Let’s Do Brunch

Sydneysiders have grown a food baby since Crave Sydney International Food Festival took over town. But the month-long event is about to be taken off the table.

This weekend is the last chance to get your egg on for ‘Let’s Do Brunch.’

Cafés across Sydney are offering set brunch menus for $25 per person with coffee or tea included, which is damn good since you are hitting two meals with one stone.

Do brunch at Café Ish for something a bit different in food-filled Surry Hills.

The Aussie café with a Japanese twist is offering breakfast trifle plus a choice of their famous crab omelette or scrambled eggs with emu prosciutto. All washed down with their signature wattle maccacino which is subtly flavoured with wattle and macadamia.

The trifle- yoghurt layered with native berry compote, rosella, nashi and coconut-toasted muesli is a zesty wake-up call. Then there’s the scrambled eggs with emu prosciutto which stands out from the standard bacon and eggs.

But the café’s star dish is the crab omelette. Stuffed with deep-fried soft shell crab, avocado, shallots, garlic, chilli, soy, ginger dressing and lime, this is more than just yummy-ish.

For other brunch menus filled with eggs, pancakes, breakfast bruschetta and more morning glories try cafés such as Rubyos Restaurant, Efendy, Brown Sugar, The Victoria Room, Sonoma and Hyde Park Barracks Café.

And never fear late-risers – many of the cafés offer brunch until the afternoon.

This weekend celebrate the credit brunch for the last time… until next year.
