Darlo of a Laundro

Another day, another small bar. But Darlie Laundromatic is cleaning up Sydney’s bar scene with its fresh approach.
The little darling is folded away from the main drag. But inside the laundromat-turned-bar it’s bubbling with action.
The small space has a retro vibe with velvet armchairs, pots and pans, ceramic jugs, and old-school teatowels. Luckily it hasn’t washed away its past as a laundry. The taps and dry cleaning price lists on the wall are all part of Darlie’s charm.
Hang out at the communal bench or the small tables and chairs that are straight from the 70’s. Or lounge in the armchairs out front as you sink a few.
Don’t worry, detergent isn’t on the menu. Instead, popular drink offerings include cans of Tsing Tao beer and home-made organic cordials. Flavours like pear and maple, passionfruit and sour apple can be served with or without soda and vodka. Kind of like what grandma makes, just a bit less squeaky clean.
Iron out your hunger with a steak sandwich or creative salads such as warm chorizo and white bean; and potato, fennel and dill. Or nibble on bar food which includes sourdough with dukkah, grilled Afghan flatbread and mini hot dogs served with different toppings. Harissa aioli, crunchy onions and remolade are nice surprises from the standard ketchup.
Also, local DJs spin tunes and Sunday sessions have recently kicked off in the outdoor courtyard.
The only thing the little darl is missing is the chance to do your laundry. But this would probably be dangerous while drinking.
Instead, come for a tipple and air out some dirty laundry. It is likely you’ll leave with a clean conscience.
