Ocsober Fest

We’ve already said no to vino during Dry July and FebFast, but there’s no harm in having another booze-free month.
Ocsober encourages us to give up alcohol during October to raise money for Life Education, which is represented by none-other than the educational mascot Healthy Harold, Australia’s most-adored giraffe.
Your drink dollars will go towards teaching kids in primary and secondary schools about leading a healthy life, including how to turn down drugs and alcohol.
Since Life Education is Australia’s largest non-government provider of children’s drug and health education, Healthy Harold probably needs a drink. The busy giraffe already visits 3 500 schools totalling 650 000 children each year, but wants to spread his message further. This Ocsober’s aim is to raise $750 000 so Harold can reach out to schools missing out.
Besides, the $70 needed to help Life Education teach ten more children is a drop in the ocean.
Ocsober is also a time to remind everyone about the risks linked to alcohol and binge drinking. Especially as stats show how often teenage Aussies are in the emergency ward, when their focus should just be on the blackboard.
Plus, glamorous ambassadors like Michelle Bridges, Laura Dundovic, Michael Clarke and Charlie Brown make it trendy to resist a Tooheys.
Snoozing on the booze now is a good time to get ready for swimsuit season too! Who knows- you might carry your habits through to summer and the festive period.
Harold may even give you a gold star.
