harvest to home market update 27 September, 2011

More good news on the vegetable front than fruit this week! Corn, hand picked green beans, telegraph cucumbers, capsicums, spinach and Australian asparagus are all going gangbusters. Watch out for tomatoes as they have increased a little but maybe a good chance to revert to the cherry toms as they are very good value. Check out the full list below.
The Good News:
Avocado (well priced)
Beans - Green and Handpicked (prices eased and good supply)
Beetroot (large better)
Broccoli (prices cheap)
Cabbage (all good)
Chilli (Red and Birdseye easing)
Red, Green and Yellow Capsicum (all cheap)
Cauliflower (good and cheap)
Celeriac (good)
Celery (good and cheap)
Corn (plenty and cheap)
Eggplant (QLD now and prices cheap)
Fennel
Oranges (CHEAP!)
Blood Oranges (plenty about)
Strawberries (great quality and cheap)
Grapefruit
Kiwi fruit (good quality and cheap)
Leek (good quality and plenty about)
Lettuce (prices down)
Mandarins (good quality and cheap)
Mango (plenty about)
Mushrooms (Button are good and flat getting better),

Cucumber (Telegraph & Lebanese price rising)
Ginger (still high price)
Kumera (limited supply)

Onions (brown up in price)
Butternut Pumpkin (very pricey)
And some regrettable news to finish on – strawberry season is drawing to a close so grab them while you can.
