Dough-nating to a Good Cause

Spare some change to make a change when dining out this week.

UNICEF’s ‘Bread for Good’ campaign running from 16-23 September invites diners to donate $2 for their bread to raise dough for kids in East Africa. Restaurants around Australia are participating to raise awareness of the food crisis there.

Almost 12.4 million people are affected by the famine, where over 2 million are children. Certainly not a crummy number. Even more devastating is how a child is dying every six minutes.

Get a slice of the action at the 146 cafes and restaurants participating in NSW and Victoria. No surprises that big names like Sepia, est., Rockpool, Duke Bistro and Bird Cow Fish are giving their Bread for Good.

But it’s not limited to leavened goods. Several eateries are offering pappadams, almonds and rice instead of bread.

Giving a gold coin is easy on the pocket and only $2 feeds a child for one day. And you’ll appreciate your crusts much more knowing the crust you’ve donated is for good.
