Sydney’s Crave International Food Festival

It’s the time of the year we’ve all been waiting for, where chefs open their doors and their waiting lists, outdoor areas get transformed into downtown Bangkok street food markets, and bars buzz with innovative cocktails and entertainment. Food takes centre stage and the city of Sydney’s social calendar is packed full of extraordinary food events.
The Crave 2011 Sydney International Food Festival is bigger then ever. From pub food, to markets, to high tea. From noodle markets in Hyde Park, to breakfast at Bondi beach to chef showcases at the Hilton Sydney they’ve got it all covered, so be sure to experience at least one of the many foodiefied events it has on offer.
My top 5 events:
1. World Dinner: An Evening In Milan At La Pesa Trattoria
Italian food, Italian wine, what can go wrong? A night spent with food from the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Belissimo!
2. Pop-up Party: Spanish Warehouse with Secret Foodies
Set in a secret location made known only two hours before the event, a night is cloaked in mystery, but wherever it is it will be a Spanish fiesta of food, and entertainment. A thrilling night that won’t disappoint.
3. Special Dinners: Battle of the Tasman at Glass Brasserie
A chef version of the Bledisloe – a showdown between two Aussie chefs and Two Kiwis, fighting it out for the title of best chef. A classic case of ‘food patriotism’. A night that could surprise!
4. Hands on: Sushi Class and Dinner At Sushi E
Get rolling! Learn the fine art of making sushi, with head chef Nobuyuki Ura, then enjoy the fruits of your labour with your fellow class mates. Learning from the master never sounded so good.
5. Sweet Dinners: Sweet Disposition At Bathers’ Pavilion Restaurant
A six-course sugar hit for those who enjoy the sweeter things in life. A fun take on dinner, you’ll be taken through a degustation of dessert deliciousness by executive pastry chef Anna Polyviou.
The festival will be a celebration of our vibrant culinary diversity, so get your palettes ready for a delectably delicious experience!
The Crave Festival runs from 1-30 October
