CMW: What do you do for a job?
Dr Wyatt: I am an assistant professor in a Neuroscience Department at an American University. I work on the control of breathing and how it may fail in sudden infant death syndrome. I am an electrophysiologist and cell physiologist.

CMW: Tell us about your home brewing escapades?
Dr Wyatt: I’ve been brewing for almost two years, I brew a 5 gallon batch every 6 weeks and have won a medal and a best of style award.

CMW: Have you ever an "aha" moment in your years of brewing?
Dr Wyatt: Right at the start when I discovered it was a doddle.

CMW: What is the best brew you have made so far?
Dr Wyatt: Heftybird OSB won a medal at Ohio State Fair and Dayton Octoberfest. They were well balanced and fit the style parameters perfectly.

CMW: What was the worst?
Dr Wyatt: A bitter made with Manchester ale yeast. It didn't ferment properly and I had to throw it all away. Heartbreaking.

CMW: Why the name Hefty bird?
Dr Wyatt: I have sworn to Amanda that I would never to reveal that.

CMW: Any advice to budding brewers?
Dr Wyatt: Buy a couple of kits and follow the instructions. Then freestyle. Be accurate sterile and patient.

CMW: What is the essential piece of equipment for home brewing?
Dr Wyatt: A big glass to drink it out of.

CMW: What kind of equipment do you use?
Dr Wyatt: The cheapest.

CMW: If there was a style of beer that described you what would it be?
Dr Wyatt: Bitter.
