Grill’d as a (Pickled) Cucumber

Discovering whether the burgers ‘made with love’ are as moo-ving as this fun ‘n’ fast joint claims.

1. Name that burger
Mustard & Pickled!

2. Where did you buy it?
Grill’d.

3. What’s on it?
Grilled 100 per cent lean beef, Dijon mustard, dill pickle, tasty cheese, salad and relish.

4. Nice buns?
We chose the ‘traditional’ bun (wholemeal blend), a healthy change from the standard white sugary variety. As the menu states the buns are baked locally and daily and don’t contain added sugar and artificial preservatives, the guilt of our carbocide session was reduced (slightly).

5. Would you eat it again?
Since these burgers are cheap as chips (well the fries are actually less expensive, but you get our drift), Grill’d can easily be made a weekly pop-in place.

6. In terms of quality is it more Neil Perry or Pauline Hanson?
It trumps Hanson’s hamburgers. But compared to Neil’s wagyu wonder, his response could be closer to ‘I don’t like it’.

7. If you wrote an 80’s love ballad for this burger what would it be called? What would the lyrics to the chorus be?
It would be called ‘One- G-love’ and the chorus would go:
Grill me tender grill me true,
This burger made with love is the only one that’ll do.

8. Could you eat it while riding a skateboard? Or is it a more messy sit-down affair?
Grill’d has got it going on since both options are available, where burgers can be eaten in or taken away.

9. How long did it take you to eat?
It was consumed in the restaurant so it took a little longer as some restraint was needed. Whereas it might have been a different story if devoured at home behind closed doors.

10. Rate it out of five stars
Four. Who doesn’t want a burger served with a side of love?
